The Satellite High School Band Program consists of a wide range of performing ensembles that
meet both during the day and after school. The program includes:
Wind Ensemble
Symphonic Band
Silver Jazz Ensemble
Scarlet Jazz Orchestra
Percussion Ensemble
The Satellite Wind Ensemble is a nationally recognized performance group that performs high level concert repertoire designed to prepare students for a future in studying music. The Wind Ensemble has performed predominantly around the state of Florida, including recent invitations to the campuses of the University of Florida in 2024 and the University of North Florida in 2025. This ensemble has earned superior ratings at district MPA events, upholding a tradition of strong musical development.
Satellite Wind Ensemble students are regularly selected for Florida All-State Bands, Brevard All-County Bands, and other various honors ensembles. The Wind Ensemble has also
performed for the Music for All-UCF Celebrates the Arts regional several times and offers students deep musical experiences for their personal and professional development.
The Wind Ensemble, like all performing ensembles, is co-curricular and includes required time
outside of class hours to earn participation. This includes after school rehearsals, dress rehearsals, concerts, small ensemble events, and other performances as specified by the director.
As a performing unit, this group serves as a musical ambassador for Satellite High School and it is always in the best interest to present a positive image for the school.
The Satellite Symphonic Band is the intermediate performing ensemble at Satellite High School, designed to prepare its members for admission to the Wind Ensemble. The Symphonic Band performs at district MPA events, focusing on continued musical development through self-accountability for practice and rehearsal technique.
The Symphonic Band, like all performing ensembles, is co-curricular and includes required time outside of class hours to earn participation. This includes after school rehearsals, dress rehearsals, concerts, small ensemble events, and other performances as specified by the director.

The Silver Jazz Ensemble is made up of students interested in learning about and broadening their abilities in performing jazz music. The Jazz Ensemble is the intermediate ensemble of the jazz program, and is home to several smaller jazz combos. The members of the combos develop their skills in jazz style and improvisation. .The Jazz Ensemble performs at district and state MPA performances. In the past, the jazz program has travelled within Florida to the Lakeside Jazz Festival and Essentially Ellington Orlando Music for All Regional, as well as nationally to the Monterrey Jazz Festival in California.
The Scarlet Jazz Orchestra is made up of students interested in learning about and broadening their abilities in performing jazz music. The Jazz Orchestra is the premiere ensemble of the jazz program, and is home to several smaller jazz combos. The members of the combos develop their skills in jazz style and improvisation. .The Jazz Orchestra has performed in local venues such as the Satellite Beach Fire Department, the American Muscle Car Museum, and the Melbourne Auditorium, as well as district and state MPA performances. In the past, the jazz program has travelled within Florida to the Lakeside Jazz Festival and Essentially Ellington Orlando Music for All Regional, as well as nationally to the Monterrey Jazz Festival in California.
The Satellite Percussion Ensemble meets every day during 7th period and offers a specific, focused opportunity for percussionists to grow in their musicianship as individual players and ensemble members. This ensemble has performed at district and state Solo and Ensemble events, as well as on school concerts and public outreach events. The most unique part of the Percussion Ensemble class is the annual Composition Project, in which the class members are challenged to compose their final piece that will be performed at the end of the year at the Showcase concerts.
